PiGua Boxing (Split Deflect Fist) Page Two

Demonstrator/Teacher:Guo Rui-Xiang, this is the same generation holder as in our first Pigua page. We found his treatment of the material strong then with an emphasis on key points and practical motion. Whatever illness he was fighting then seems to be conquered and his vocal presentation is stronger now. A knowledgeable teacher.

This style, known throughout China, is one of the great fists. Not only is it loose, fluid, beautiful and effective but the relaxed movements are excellent for health. PiGua style blends extreme flexibility of the shoulder with Long Fist motions and a relaxed method of Fa Chin (energy issuing). Often taught hand in hand with BaJi these two compliment each other beautifully. But then again PiGua (which transformed into Monkey Fist through the centuries) has been known to “marry” many other style PiGua (Split-Deflect) style is one of the treasures of Northern Kung Fu. Very famous in China it is sparsely represented in the Western world. PiGua training emphasizes loose movements taking the eagle and the snake as its totem animals. The style has a distinct flavor, relaxed and fluid, which is beautifully represented in this staff set with wide whipping swipes and thunderous slams.
