Footwork

  • Solo Practice of Footwork
    • Patterns such as swaying steps (擺步) and hooking steps (扣步), lateral movements, square steps, triangular steps, parallel steps, large swaying steps, running steps/muddy steps (走圈/泥步)
  • Application of Displacement Techniques
    • Using the shins to displace opponents, continuous displacement of opponent’s front and back legs, utilizing the thigh during close quarters

Hand Techniques (穿掌)

Instruction and Supervision: Makoto Usui (Chief Instructor of the All Japan Chinese Martial Arts Federation)

Born in Tokyo in 1960, Makoto Usui trained under Master Sato Kinbei of the All Japan Chinese Martial Arts Federation, studying Tai Chi, Xingyi Quan, Baguazhang, Kinyo Kenpo, Yagyu Shingan-ryu, and Yamato Michi. From 1980 onward, he studied under martial arts grandmaster Sha Guozheng, eventually developing his own style of Baguazhang.
