Mamoru

  • Born May 29, 1977, in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Joined the judo club in middle school and high school, then joined Shooto Gym Yokohama after graduation. Made his professional Shooto debut on July 16, 1999, against Shuichiro Katsumura. With exceptional talent, he achieved an undefeated streak of 6 wins, including one draw. On December 17, 2000, he defeated Jin Akimoto to become the inaugural Shooto Featherweight World Champion. Moved to bantamweight after losing to Masahiro Oishi on November 25, 2001. Crowned the first Shooto Bantamweight World Champion by defeating Yasuhiro Urushitani on December 14, 2003, achieving a two-weight class dominance. Since then, he has been a leading figure in Shooto’s lightweight division, engaging in numerous legendary battles. On February 11, 2009, he entered Shoot Boxing, a stand-up fighting sport, defeating Noriyuki Enari, the Super Bantamweight Champion. On January 30, 2010, he competed in the first-ever King of the Cage event in Okinawa, defeating Frank Pach to become the Jr. Flyweight World Champion. He has left his mark both in the ring and in the cage, continually fighting at the forefront of the world stage.
