Méishān Bāguàzhǎng
Meishan Baguazhang resembles a swimming dragon and moves like a flying phoenix. Not only are the postures stable and the movements light and agile, but every move is either striking or defending. It has a strong sense of offensive and defensive combat. Regular practice of this technique can achieve the goal of integrating health preservation and combat skills, and combining Qigong and martial arts into one. Here’s a surprise, a perfectly valid and interesting version of the 8 palm changes in this ostensibly southern style. Actually this is called Taiji Bagua inside the VCD and indeed has some elements of both along with a very soft version of some key Mei Shan movements. This is a rather nice set and mixed Bagua motions. Surprisingly true to the style’s essence and very different from most other styles though possibly influenced by Jiang’s famous New Form. Double VCD.Here’s a surprise, a perfectly valid and interesting version of the 8 palm changes in this ostensibly southern style. It is characterized by its stable stances, fierce and powerful movements, simplicity and unpretentious style, with every move focused on either offense or defense. The routines are short, concise, and tightly structured. It is known for its ability to “strike even a crouching ox in a square swoop.”
