Mizong Quan – Double Iron Rods – Form & Usage

We have the feeling that people will like this form. The rods, like the cane, are not edged and therefore actually allow for more angles because they don’t need to be directed as accurately as, say, sabers. So the form is interesting, loose and light with some nice whirling moves and some interesting angle changes. Don’t expect escrima, this is a Chinese interpretation with the weapon a little heavier and more geared to fighting other weapon with blades such as the double swords used as foils for these applications.

The flavor of Mi Zong is “indeterminate” with many changes, turns and reversals in this essentially Long Fist Northern Style. Rare in the West but very famous indeed in China.  The style was most popularly associated with Huo Yuan Chia the inspiration of TWO famous Kung Fu films: Bruce Lee’s Chinese Connection and Jet Li’s Fists of Legend. Master Huo was said to be fabulously strong and was picked to head the world-famous Ching Wu Association of ShangHai.
