Instructor Profile

Demonstration / Supervision: Kuroda Tetsuzan (くろだ てつざん / 15th‑generation head of the Shinbukan)

Born in Saitama Prefecture, 1950. From childhood he studied his family’s five classical martial lineages under his grandfather (Kuroda Taiji) and father (Kuroda Shigeki), eventually becoming the 15th‑generation head of the Shinbukan. With the understanding that kata are theory, he teaches and practices the methodology of movement found in old‑tradition techniques that reject muscular force. He is highly regarded in the martial arts world. Author of the book “Ki‑Ken‑Tai Icchi no ‘Kai’” and many DVDs including the Gokui Shinan Series (BAB Japan).
